I've attached several screen caps:
pc.png - viewed on a PC with Asian font pack installed
android_acrobat.png - viewed on Adobe Reader on Android M
android_drive.png - viewed on Drive PDF viewer on Android M
android_print_preview - viewed using Adobe Reader then print preview on Android

To be clear, is this bug about Adobe Acrobat Reader on Android?

I'm not exactly where the rendering happens, whether that's part of the Reader
or the OS, but yes, you open the file in Acrobat and the fonts don't render.
You print and they don't render in the preview nor on paper.

Currently no PDF documents can be opened in Drive/Preview 3 so I can't verify
whether this issue also appears in the Drive viewer. Please verify on your end
if Drive shows the issue. I've attached a freely distributable file that shows
the issue as well as screen caps of the file in Acrobat on both Lollipop and M.
We have verified that these fonts are missing from Android M -
- MTLmr3m.ttf (MotoyaLMaru-W3-90ms-RKSJ-H)
- DroidSansFallbackFull.ttf

I think you should file a bug against Android instead. We can't help you with
Adobe Acrobat + Android M. PDFium isn't even involved here.

It also repros on the Drive viewer. Does that make it a PDFium issue?

I have no idea if the Android Drive app uses PDFium to view PDF files. Why
don't you file a bug against Android and go from there?

Please ignore acrobat reference. Believe this is a PDFium bug as we have seen
the same reported for Drive PDF reader and Android printing framework in L and
M. Seems like there are issues with rendering certain documents in Japanese.

Sure. we can try to fix the PDFium + Android issues, but the Acrobat + Android
issues are still beyond the scope of this bug. We don't have good Android test
coverage right now since we have been concentrating on the desktop.
