Minify assets #142

This site is very large, and we've done little to optimize performance. We can cut the initial payload at least in half by spending some time optimizing this page delivery.

143 #144 #145 #146 collectively help close this issue.

These changes reduced the index page size from 3.9MB to 1.5MB, and boosted page speeds tremendously. Before:
