Possible issues:

how many languages geocode the words for display on a map display on a phylogenetic tree pull content from wikipedia, tolweb, other relevant sites (source information, word metadata) 'animal of the day' feature?

cross-filter with range data from other site.

show related words, related species

allow users to create custom searches, add information, make corrections?

Other: export options (e.g. \latex-formatted dictionary?) share options

work with audio and video? (e.g. include clips of the animals)

the idea here would be to be able to chose from a main menu of thumbnails at the top, which would enlarge or zoom in on your choice. from there, content related to your choice would appear below, which would give you both main content and the option to choose other forms (3d graphics, narrative descriptions, mapping of some sort, etc).
