ads are being blocked even though I have "Remove advertisement" unchecked #2017

I want to support the youtubers I watch so please tell me how to keep the ads if there is another setting responsible for them or something. Also, I do have an adblocker but Youtube is whitelisted. To be sure, I tried disabling Tampermonkey and the ads appeared. Then, to be even more sure, I disabled all my other userscripts and only left Youtube Center and the ads were blocked. When I disabled Youtube Center, they appeared. Please help.

This bug was first noticed in November last year. Issue https://github.com/YePpHa/YouTubeCenter/issues/1165. Yeppha (the guy who made Youtube Centre) noticed it, but before any mention of the fact that the bug is limited to HTML5.

Ads show in Flash, but not in HTML5, but if you switch to Flash, there will be no option to change playback speed. If you are okay with that, you can go into options and set the player to "Aggressive Flash".

Are you using the developer version? https://github.com/YePpHa/YouTubeCenter/wiki/Developer-Version

kaugnebulixo commented 9 years ago

I am using dev version 525. Upgrading to 533 now. Okay, it still exists in v533.

Also, I recently noticed that it blocks the squarish banner ad next to the video too. It doesn't block the two ads that appear at the top of the search results, or the square banner ads next to the search results.

Is there any update on this or any chance of a fix?

YTC forces ad blocking in videos wether the setting is checked or not.

YePpHa commented 7 years ago

It shouldn't block ads if Remove advertisements is disabled.

rayanmestiri commented 7 years ago

Well, it does even though the setting is unchecked. I had to comment out a line in the source code for it to really not block ads.
