This I'm already aware of. I'm currently trying to rewrite YouTube Center completely where I've planned to make some changes to the settings menu (how I add new entries and etc.). I will try to revise it and make it more user-friendly when I get to that part of the rewriting.
Ok good What do you think about using crowdin.net for your translations? It's for free if it's for an open-source project ;)
It seems nice, but the problem is that I have a lot of strings
as the website calls it. The amount is at about ~730 strings. So that would mean that I will need to pay $15/mo (and I probably have to upgrade to $29/mo as I probably will add more strings), where I could just use my current method of downloading the translations from Google Drive (spreadsheet document) and convert them to a JSON format that I can insert directly into YouTube Center.
Have you read this? : https://crowdin.net/page/open-source-project-setup-request
Or is your project not open-source?
What do you think about sorting your current spreadsheet better? A lot of strings are spread out across the sheet which makes it difficult to keep the translation consistent (same words for headings and descriptions of some settings etc.). To name a few "strings" that are spread out: Dark Player (background), Player Glow, Grid collections/subscriptions
One massive advantage of crowdin is the way the community could interact with each other. You don't have that with a spread sheet. Comments on specific strings to discuss whether a translation is good/correct. You can suggest several translations for one string and you and others can vote for certain translations to indicate that they are good. You as the projects owner can give users the right to proof-read the translation of your software for one language (for example german) if the users proves to be a good translator. The proof-reader approves certain translations so that you as the projects owner just needs to press a button to download the approved translation.
I didn't see that page. I will fill out the page and hopefully YouTube Center will get accepted.
It's a little bit hidden at the bottom of the pricing page and not listed in the table above...
it's labeled: Free Open Source and Academic Licenses
I've filled it now and then I just have to wait.
@Djfe YouTube Center got approved and now I just have to import every single translation. The project page can be found at https://crowdin.net/project/youtube-center/.
Crowdin translations are very nice add. Already started translating. Lots of strings to translate there. Only 32% done. :D
Cool, can you make me to your proofreader for the german language? My username on Crowdin is felix.bau42.
Are you importing the translations or should I do that?
Are you going to split up the translations into several files to group them?
I will try to import as much of it as I can, but I think it has to be done manually. I will keep it in one file at the moment.
I am working on reworking YouTube Center completely using RequireJS where YouTube Center is made up of multiple files, which can be build into one single file. I will probably use multiple translation files for the rework. If anyone is interested in the current progress of the rework it can be found here.
EDIT: @Djfe I've made you a Proofreader.
New version sounds interesting. When You get it to state of extension or userscript, let us know and we test it. :)
I think there is an upload API available. Maybe it's enough to write a short script .CSV -> Crowdin
@Locheed I will make a issue when it's ready for testing.
@Djfe Ohh, yeah they do have an API. I have not really looked much at it yet, but I can try to see if I can import everything through that.
Interface->Like/Dislike buttons the menu should be grouped better
a lot of words are repeated
should be like this: Like button: (<-heading) Opacity Hover Opacity Color Hover Color
Dislike Button: Opacity Hover Opacity Color Hover Color
Liked button: ... ... ... ...
Disliked Button: ... ... ... ...
