Incompatible with YouTube TV #954

Open Djfe opened 10 years ago

Djfe commented 10 years ago

YTC is incompatible with YouTube TV.

you can test it using: https://www.youtube.com/tv/

If I start a video you get a question first whether you want to play it on your TV or not. YTC already opens the video in another "object" and places it wrong. Both screens are visible at the same time then and are partially on top of each other. I'm able to "repair" it by choosing the device in the screen below

Two Screenshots showing what I'm talking about: First it looks like this: screenshot 2014-09-17 19 01 05 And a second later it looks like this: screenshot 2014-09-17 19 01 08

Hopefully you can fix it ;)

Regards

This is a new feature as far as I know and YePpHa fortunately has the ability to test it properly ( see https://github.com/YePpHa/YouTubeCenter/issues/921#issuecomment-54840838). Its possible that disabling the resize feature when using youtube tv might work, at least until a fix is released.

Djfe commented 10 years ago

You cannot really say that YouTube TV is new anymore, it's at least half a Year old, likely even older.

Yonezpt commented 10 years ago

@Djfe I can't believe this has existed for so long and only recentely I discovered it, I had no idea. Either way, YePpHa is capable of troubleshooting it and find a solution so all we have to do is be patient and wait for an update on this issue.

Djfe commented 10 years ago

Quick search on the internet revealed that the feature exists since october 2012. (only found a german article about on giga: http://www.giga.de/webapps/youtube/news/youtube-tv-neuer-fernseh-modus-lasst-sich-mit-keyboard-oder-smartphone-steuern/)

@Yonezpt I have a Chromecast which should work somewhat the same as the Samsung TV, but it can very a little bit.

@Djfe could you test dev build 397 to see if it's working correctly as it currently does with my Chromecast. If you still have an issue could you then please save your page by pressing CTRL + S and send me the HTML file by using a file hosting service (MEGA, Mediafire).

Djfe commented 10 years ago

I will test it on sunday (don't have access to the TV atm.)

It's been 2 full years and I cannot find any sign of an attempt to address this bug which isn't typical of the development effort so can I ask is there something specific making this unfixable that the rest of us can possibly assist in figuring out? With Chromecast and the TV function of youtube becoming so widely used this is now to the point where to cast successfully and use the queue, we now have to totally disable YTC all together and I then miss all the functionality with it off.

Yonezpt commented 8 years ago

@CollinChaffin The author has not been active for quite some time. Read "Status of YouTube Center" https://github.com/YePpHa/YouTubeCenter/wiki

Okay perhaps after 2 years of no comment we can hope for a "future surprise", LOL. Last year there were still updates and I just figured since other Chromecast issues had been addressed in the past since it appeared the primary author had a Casting device that we'd luck out and at least get pointed in the direction of the bug so I don't have to start from scratch in digging through the code to try to fix it.

Thanks for pointing me to that line in the Wiki though, not sure how I missed it since I check it often these days!
