What exactly would that metric be useful for? I don't quite see much utility in know just how many contribution have been done, since that doesn't really give any insight into the size / quality of those contributions.
Well Probable prime mentioned he wanted to have a wiki editor badge, for people that have made over X edits to the wiki at some point vocally. Also the size would be quantifiable, but I'm not sure how quality would be done even with an LMM or a robot
I'm not sure a metric like that would be a good idea. I'm a bit worried this might incentivise people to just make many low-quality edits just to get the bage. Honestly my personal opinion is that every contribution is important, so I'm not sure setting a "limit" you need to match before you qualify for the bage is necessary. If someone went out of their way to sign up and help, even if it's just a small edit, give them the badge! Every little contribution counts towards making the wiki better for everyone.
I'll probably add it as some sort of profile enhancement on the wiki, but its score wouldn't count for any badge.
