I don't find it a major issue, but I'm usually closer to the player. From a distance, I could easily see this being an issue.
Maybe exterior UI elements that scale based on distance could prove useful in solving the issue? This way, even further away players can still be operated without great difficulty, regardless of the user's inputs?
This could probably best/most easily be resolved by ensuring the play/pause area does not overlap with other clickable elements so there is no inadvertent inputs.

Describe the bug?
The default video player is difficult to operate quickly in VR, since the narrow button and slider targets make it easy to accidentally pause/play the video instead. Your laser also does not snap to an edge which could have helped with aiming towards different player controls.
To Reproduce
Expected behavior
I expect to be able to operate the controls easily without accidentally performing an unintended action
