Automatic reconnect on disconnect #109

I'm seeing a fair number of unexpected disconnects to open connections.  
These always reconnect fine manually, but are disruptive to background
activities.  How reasonable would it be to add a mode that would 
automatically reconnect (without querying the user) after a short delay (a 
minute or two)?  Where would be the appropriate module to work on this?
