I forgot to mention that Smokeview was run on a 64-bit machine.

I'll take a look at it.
attach a simple case that exhibits the problem, detail exactly what files you
were
viewing when rendering. does it happen every time?

What files would you like me to attach? When rendering I was viewing HRR and
HRR/Smoke.

I hope this qualifies as a simple file as it is the only one that I have run
where I
needed to generate high quality jpgs. Thanks.

Actually I have run variations of this file with changes in room content and
the
same issue has arisen for all of them.

Could it have something to do with the screen saver activating and affecting the
rendering process?

yes. Anything affecting the screen will affect the rendering. As a test of
this,
place a window so that it partially obuscures the smokeview scene for a few
frames in
the middle of a render. See what happens. I was not able to duplicate your
error on
my 32 bit pc. I've run your case on my 64 bit pc and will try to duplicate
later today.

Yes it seems that way. I think in this particular case, since my rendering is
quite
lengthy - over one hour - the screen saver is activated affecting the rendering
that
leads to this single frame being repeated for the remainder of the rendering
process.
I have re-rendered the jpgs while de-activating the screen saver and so far no
problem. It would be nice if the rendering could be made insensitive to other
actions as it basically commits the workstation to the rendering process.
Thanks for
looking into this.

I agree that forcing your PC to be "dedicated" to rendering the images is
inconvient
- I don't know of a work around as Smokeview can't control what is happening
elsewhere in the monitor window.

I'll close the issue - report back if you think there is some other issue
besides
screen savers causing rendering to fail
