Unable to install meshagent MAC #6153

Hi Technical Team,

We tried to install meshagent for MAC but unable to install it and getting errors Attached screen shot.

Please guide

YOU HAVENT FOLLOWED THE BUG TEMPLATE REPORT, PLEASE DO THIS IN FUTURE OTHERWISE YOUR ISSUE MAY BE CLOSED WITHOUT HELP

do you have any customization of the meshagent in your config.json?

can you share your config.json?

have you tried to install it using the binary installer method instead?

@pvssrikanth I am looking into the mac issue this week. You can use the binary install method perfectly fine! It's the gui version that isn't working for some reason?

image download intel or arm file, unquarantine the file, chmod +x the file, then sudo ./meshagent -install or sudo ./meshagent -fullinstall (i cant remember which one will check)

@pvssrikanth ok i think ive fixed it again. you need to download agents/MeshAgentOSXPackager.zip from the pull request, then replace it in node_modules/meshcentral/agents/ then restart meshcentral and then redownload the mpkg from the web ui and try to install

@pvssrikanth i havent merged the request yet. best thing to do as you said is fresh start of meshcentral 1.1.24 then download the file from here https://github.com/Ylianst/MeshCentral/blob/mac-fixes-again/agents/MeshAgentOSXPackager.zip then replace the file node_modules/meshcentral/agents/MeshAgentOSXPackager.zip with it then restart meshcentral then redownload the mpkg and see how you go!

I am running meshcentral using docker image gurcomputing/mescentral-docker ( https://github.com/gurucomputing/meshcentral-docker.git)

as per my understanding , i replaced https://github.com/Ylianst/MeshCentral/blob/mac-fixes-again/agents/MeshAgentOSXPackager.zip in the MAC Laptop and tried to install

but again getting an error attached.

Do i have to make any changes in the docker-compose file and the node_modules IF SO kindly guide me what changes i have to do this docker image

@pvssrikanth you are using an unofficial docker image! Please switch to the official one ghcr.io/ylianst/meshcentral:latest

no worries! remember you need to download the zip file from the PR and then replace it on your meshcentral server! node_modules/meshcentral/agents/MeshAgentOSXPackager.zip

the PDF docs is OLD and outdated, you should use the new docs here https://ylianst.github.io/MeshCentral/ but we are still in the process of updating it and its missing a docker section, currently we only have a docker section showing the repo image to use

I freshly installed official docker image [image: image.png]

Followed your guidance and replaced the var/lib/docker/overlay2/7132b3eeb738b74cfd25849fcbb8fc45abf292aaff2a58c27a3ec607a57453e3/diff/opt/meshcentral/node_modules/meshcentral/agents#MeshAgentOSXPackager.zip after replacing

I restarted the Server and took copy of this MeshAgentOSXPackager.zip to Mac System and tried to install this package.

But unfortunately, Its still not working with error below :

no you still arent doing it the patch/update correctly. i have just merged the request into the master repo so wait about 15mins then redownload the master docker image docker pull ghcr.io/ylianst/meshcentral:master then rerun your meshcentral docker-compose/run command with the master tag then redownload the meshagent from the web ui on the remote device and see if you can install it

p.s, no images are being attached/shown because you are replying by email

Instead of docker image ,,,I want to try direct installation packages on Ubuntu and following below link

Because i am unable to see instructions for Ubuntu 22 version and i see only ubuntu18

@pvssrikanth the pdf is out of date! And should only be used as a reference. You shouldnuse the website for docs https://ylianst.github.io/MeshCentral/ and just follow the ubuntu setup guide there (don't worry about it saying 18.04)
