Some extra notes--I am using the newest version of your script (1.4.1) and
importing models works fine, although some of the materials are off.

update #2, (sorry about the second account), looking back at my blender
project, I'm puzzled as to why it says that I have a model on every layer. The
script must have generated it, because I sure didn't.

Can you upload the blend file please.

You're seeing oddness because the tools stopped working half-way through an
export. Hit undo and everything will be fine.

Fixed in 1.4.2 / r265.

Cool use of the cloth modifier BTW. :)

Thank you! I was trying to make a chain mail hood and need a natural "sagging"
effect. The hood exported with 0 errors after updating, but when I tried to
reimport it to view it, all I could see was a tiny, tiny icosphere. Is this
normal? How do I see the actual model once exported?

(Note: I did not apply any materials or textures yet, and just exported a test.)

It's there, but you need to adjust your 3D View to see it: press Home.

Unfortunately the tools can only do that themselves if they are invoked from 3D
View. I'm guessing that you used the File > Import menu.

You need to flip your normals BTW.

How do I import something without using File > Import? (Sorry, I'm relatively
new to Blender). Do I need to flip the normals on my original model or on my
imported .smd?

If you hit Space you'll bring up the operator search menu. I have it bound to a
key. It's not really important though. :)

You need to flip them on the original model. It's hard to tell because Blender
has this stupid double-sided polygon system, but you'll rapidly discover the
problem if you load the model into Source!
