In fact, before the datafiles was like this, using a folder within the project folder, back when it was "included files" it was part of the asset browser(under a different name at the time I think).
The glitch with this is that though I like the suggestion, I would certainly not want to lose the new features of the datafiles system, such as it simply using that folder for it and not requiring us to manually add it to the IDE in the old way. If they can make the asset browser simply function as a "file tree view" without sacrificing anything, then I like this suggestion.
[Ticket #191104]
Feature Type: feat_addition_ide Description: Hello.
I would like to ask if it would be possible to display items placed in datafiles in the asset panel. It would be very useful, for example when user import some extension, then he will know that there is something like datafiles at all. I think that would be a great tweak and a simplification. It would be great if you can see textfiles and ini files there. I think this is enough.
Thanks, Martin. Benefit: Easy and fast access to data files. The user can easily edit text files, such as language files or default settings, without having to go to the windows documents where the project is stored. Better overview and better efficiency when working with data files. Link:
