Game Maker has no internet connection #5764

Description

I've followed all of the recommended steps to enable Internet connection in Game Maker, but it still can't connect after updating to the latest IDE version. I tried rolling back to the previous, working version, but that also doesn't connect. The runtime seems to be missing the "Windows" component, and I can't force it to update or download anything. If I try to update the modules, it crashes. My attempts to fix this problem seem to be making things worse, so I'll have to fall back on requesting tech support. Previous tickets indicate that the problem should be fixed, so I'm clearly doing something wrong, but I have no idea what that could be. It's not a licensing or account issue, because it isn't getting that far in the startup process. nointernet.zip

  1. Start GameMaker
  2. See the issue
  3. Check the ui.log and see that the Internet connection failed.

The problem has disappeared after a Windows update.
