Can't Hide Notification in 15.6 #16542

Closed LifeIsADeflatingVest closed 3 years ago

LifeIsADeflatingVest commented 3 years ago

Please give us a description of what happened.

On the Yoast dashboard, clicking on the eye icon to hide the notification hides it for a few seconds, but then it immediately comes back.

Please describe what you expected to happen and why.

Once the eye icon is clicked, the notification should remain hidden.

How can we reproduce this behavior?

  1. Go to the Yoast dashboard when there is a new notification (typically, after update)
  2. Click on the eye icon to hide the notification
  3. Wait a few seconds

I can't reproduce this, ~it is also code that has not been touched in this release I believe, so I highly doubt that this is a global issue.~ < False

I did have a feeling it might be the case. Anyway, I'll try to see what could be the problem on my end, and if I discover anything additional, I'll report back

Reproduced it, we're looking into this. Thanks for reporting @LifeIsADeflatingVest !

The issue was caused by an old bug in FastCGI. This is the reason I could not reproduce in on a local environment (no FastCGI). We've now reverted our code to not trigger the bug and this was included in 15.6.2, so I'm closing this issue as solved.

Running 15.6.2 on WP5.6, PHP 7.4.13, and the usual set of plugins. Same behaviour is occurring. Bug isn't fixed.
