Slow performance issues with editor after 3.0 upgrade

I realize that when trying something new, bugs and unexpected events can happen. However with this new "upgrade", my wordpress page editor runs extremely slow. The kind of slow that would happen when you try to run windows 10 on a commodore 64. Any editing has a visible lag and when editing a page with a lot of content creates a VERY annoying visible lag. I think I had to wait 15 seconds for the page to catch up just so I could change one letter. This is ridiculous.

Prior top the "upgrade" I loved the plugin. It was great. there was no need to provide instant gratification of whether a page passed or not. Seriously... does anyone need instant gratification in this regards? I assume someone likes this upgrade so can you either remove the instant gratification part where it gives you yellow or green light instantly, or give us the option to remove it. I HATE IT. Sorry for shouting, but I cannot express my annoyance to this new upgrade enough.

If this visible lag is not fixed, I will have to move to another plugin that does not slow down my WP editor.

Oh and for reference, I have a gaming computer which has specs that never had a lag for even the most elaborate gaming experiences, so it is not my computer.

I would like to continue to use Yoast SEO, but unless this is addressed, I will be changing. I cannot waste this kind of time waiting for my screen to catch up. thanks

Same here. I updated the plugin to V3.1.1 but the problem still occurs. When using the editor for every single keypress a call is made to admin-ajax.php with the action wpseo_filter_shortcodes. Solution is to disable the Seo plugin for now.

Version 3.2 shipped improvement to how shortcodes are scanned for and should improve performance for shortcode–related contexts, see #4281

The original report is getting very old, there has been numerous versions and improvement to performance shipped since. Discussion went quiet too (usually a good sign), so I am closing this general topic.

If you experience performance issues with text analysis in current version of the plugin please open new thread with details.

I have found this thread via search engine because I am frequently facing the same issue with Version 6.3 of Yoast SEO (Free and Pro):

• When editing a very long blog post, the editing window is freezing after every few seconds for maybe 5 seconds.
• This is only happening when editing long blog posts

Interim solution for now after discussing this with Yoast Support: In Yoast SEO ---> Dashboard --> Functions: deactivate these options:

• link analysis
• readability analysis
• insights

@teknofilo I have updated my post above. The metabox (sorry for the typo) is now called "insights" (starting with Yoast SEO 7.0)

@nolens I have 7.0.2 but in "Features" I can't see "Insights", neither "Link Analysis". Where I can find them? I have disabled Readability analysis and the speed has improved (then thanks for the suggestion).
