Facebook isn't getting the correct og:image or facebook can't scrape the data at all #6572

What did you expect to happen? Sharing a post to facebook should produce the title, description and image set in Yoast.

What happened instead?

I am getting issues with the og:images on all of the posts with facebook and twitter. Twitter –– I always get the "invalid image" prompt when linking a post. Facebook: Sometimes the facebook scraper cannot see anything and I get the error –– circular redirect loop. When this happens it infers the og:image and grabs from the post. Sometimes the facebook scraper says that the og:image too small –– but the image is sized at 1200 x 628. Again, when this happens it infers the og:image and grabs from the post. Sometimes facebook scraper will show the correct image and then when the post is shared, it shows the wrong image.

The first thing I did in my troubleshooting was to remove the image and upload a new one. I subsequently went through a bunch of tests on the wordpress install –– removing all plugins & themes, re-installing wordpress.

this post in particular is having the most issues: http://followphyllis.com/super-bowl-halftime-workout/

Technical info

Thanks for reporting this issue. When I check your URL in the facebook scraper, it is scraped correctly. Unfortunately we cannot reproduce this right now. You said you checked for plugin/theme conflict, can I therefore conclude that this issue still occurs with all plugins off?

When I check your source, there is an image tag available, as displayed in the screen shot below. Can you provide a page or post with an image available, but without the og:image tag in the source? Or is this error also occuring with the og:image tag in the source? schermafbeelding_2017-02-02_om_12_59_23

The error occurs with the og:image tag in the source. We always fill out the facebook image in Yoast and occasionally fill out the twitter image. Twitter should pull the facebook image anyway.

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Is this still occuring? If so, do you perhaps have more print screens or URLs for us to test? Unfortunately we're not able to reproduce this, so we would need more data.
