At the moment, when you press save, and an older version exists - it is simply overwritten. However, in some circumstances it makes sense not to dispose of the old saved (and perhaps modified) version, but rather keep it alongside the new one. This should be configurable, and in fact - perhaps it should even be the default, just to be on the safe side and prevent losing manual changes a user may have introduced to computation word document.
