We allow user to add items that have expired to allow for greater flexibility for the user. In some instances, the user may have unintentionally bought items that are expired and wishes to keep them due to various reasons (e.g. items can be useful for purposes other than consumption, items are not way past beyond its expiry date and may still be safe for consumption).

Reason for disagreement: Information should be included within the user guide, at least, due to the confusing implementation. I understand the need for flexibility regarding expired food, but it can be rather confusing that this is possible for a user, especially since you're unlikely to have directly bought expired food for some reason (I'm not sure anywhere sells expired food intentionally).
The issue could be downgraded given that this is intentional, but shoul definitely still be specified in the user guide.
Should not be possible to add expired food to grocery list
