/misc doesnt have a font specified and so spews a bunch of warnings for each emoji it fails to render and then we get a white rectangle in place of each emoji
/all_stock tries to specify symbola as a font and while this makes no warnings come bubbling up, it does seem to render almost all emojis (that we might care about) as the same pictogram.
