How many connections do you have ? what is the speed of each connection ? Did you test with omr-test-speed
and omr-test-speed wan1
via SSH on the router ?
And what is the platform ? What is the VPS ?
x86_64 for platform
I have 2 connection adsl wan 1 direct speed without pass trought vps 1000k/s 4g wan 2 direct test without pass trought vps 350mb/s
test trought vps ans omr-test-speed omr-test-speed 10M omr-test-speed wan 2 1800k => strange :-(
change today from milkywan bidouille to perf1 so from 1vcpu 1go ram to 2 vcpu 2 go ram
So you seems to have a problem with wan2. omr-test-speed only download a file from OVH, directly when an interface is specified. It's a dedicated ethernet card with an ethernet router or an USB LTE dongle ?
its dedicated ethernet card with internet router huawei b825 in ethernet
Check cables, try to plug it on wan1,... Check kernel and system log of OpenMPTCProuter in state menu, maybe a problem with this connection is detected.
its not a problem of cable.. all test are made trought the same hardware, the only difference is passing throught or not the vps... but allways test pass trought OMR ...
it seems than my VPS is 100% load on the two vCPU in the milkywan perf1 vps... i ever change from bidouille to perf1 ... no more best perff :-(
With omr-test-speed wan2
this doesn't use the VPS at all.
For the CPU load, check that AES is disabled on advanced checkbox in the OpenMPTCProuter wizard, milkywan VPS doesn't seems to support AES.
You can also disable encryption for testing at least.
And with htop (apt-get install htop
) on the VPS you can check CPU load and what is using it.
i have chacha20 in the in the encryption.... must i disable it ?
To test if it's encryption that use all the CPU and so make everything slow: yes
does i have to reboot beetween each change ?
No, only validate the wizard.
root@OpenMPTCProuter:~# omr-test-speed % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 11 10.0G 11 1227M 0 0 17.3M 0 0:09:49 0:01:10 0:08:39 13.9M^C root@OpenMPTCProuter:~# omr-test-speed wan1 % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 0 10.0G 0 74.7M 0 0 1045k 0 2:47:11 0:01:13 2:45:58 1084k^C root@OpenMPTCProuter:~# omr-test-speed wan2 % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 2 10.0G 2 293M 0 0 4661k 0 0:37:29 0:01:04 0:36:25 2830k^C
strange result here with chacha20 activated ... beetwen 77 and 100 % load during omr-test-speed
oot@OpenMPTCProuter:~# omr-test-speed % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 7 10.0G 7 760M 0 0 11.2M 0 0:15:07 0:01:07 0:14:00 11.1M^C root@OpenMPTCProuter:~# omr-test-speed wan1 % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 0 10.0G 0 4465k 0 0 1052k 0 2:46:03 0:00:04 2:45:59 1052k^C root@OpenMPTCProuter:~# omr-test-speed wan2 % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 3 10.0G 3 330M 0 0 4848k 0 0:36:02 0:01:09 0:34:53 3430k^C
not encryotion same test and load between 75/85% ...
So about 8Mb/s and 27Mb/s when encryption is disabled. Still not really good. And still high CPU usage. Did you try with htop to check what is using so much CPU ? What is the load on the VPS when it is idle ?
idle 2/5% ...
during omr-test-speed on the vps the first process loading cpu is ss-manager ... shadowsocks...
ss-server
I think ?
Obfuscation wasn't enabled ?
If it's not the case, then, with encryption already disabled, only a better CPU can increase speed here I think.
yes its ss-server...
Hugues from milkywan just now give me a vps which support aes-ni what was the best encryption type. ?
resultat of rate are really better :-)
Yes, I asked to him why AES was not activated and he moved your VPS on a host with AES. Check in the wizard that AES-256-GCM is really used. Rate shouldn't improve as encryption was disabled, but host CPU can be better too :)
thanks ;-)
aes-256-gcm enable in the wizard ;-)
final result : https://www.nperf.com/r/3272782210043405-yjd7VOUF => this is in directoutput via 4G routeur => 300Mb/s
https://www.nperf.com/r/3272783176944345-aYzmV3KD and and trought vps => 127Mb/s
already change my intial vps from milkywan bidouile 1vCPU 1Go ram to Perf 1 2vCPU 2Go Ram with AES-NI
@Ysurac do you think it is normal less rate when i use vps... the standard ratio direct/vps seems to be 3:1 ? is it normal perf for you ?
No. There is something that limit the speed. Can be the VPS, your router arch, a 100Mb/s port limit,...

For the test, can you use omr-test-speed
on the router and with each interface and test for about 2 minutes ?
via VPS
root@OpenMPTCProuter:~# omr-test-speed % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 31 10.0G 31 3269M 0 0 22.1M 0 0:07:42 0:02:27 0:05:15 23.3M^C root@OpenMPTCProuter:~# omr-test-speed wan1 % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 0 10.0G 0 68.5M 0 0 571k 0 5:05:31 0:02:02 5:03:29 628k^C
root@OpenMPTCProuter:~# omr-test-speed wan2 % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 3 10.0G 3 329M 0 0 2664k 0 1:05:34 0:02:06 1:03:28 1538k^C => always this strange speed compare to "omr-test-speed"
without vps
root@OpenMPTCProuter:~# omr-test-speed % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 3 10.0G 3 320M 0 0 2656k 0 1:05:47 0:02:03 1:03:44 2301k^C

but in the same time testdebit.info give me : 263Mb/s down 42Mb/s up and 40ms ping ....
How do you test without VPS ?
y change ip of vps in the config with a flase ip
redo the test with disable server option same result ...
You can try a fresh install of OMR, maybe some configuration issues.
i will try tomorrow not possible now ;-( (i wan t home customer go on strike :-) :-) :-) )
fresh install without reloaded backup ?..
yes
do a fesh full install OMR 0.55.2 and same perf 100mb/s ........ :-(
perhaps a probleme on VPS ..??
also try a vps on hetzner type cpx11 2vcpu 2go ram ... and perf are ok => 270Mb/s :-) :-)

@Ysurac do you think some caracteristics explain the diff ?
@Ysurac no idea about this difference ?
Difficult to compare vCPU, some can have more dedicated ressources...
I gave up the VGPUs last month and i will go for i5 with enough ram and nvme
Rationale : routers should be easy reset start stop...

Expected Behavior
have aggregation flow rate egal to sum of each flow 275 mb/s https://pic.nperf.com/r/3272421640973452-gjN3eSVk.png
Current Behavior
rate only half of the sum 77 mb/s https://pic.nperf.com/r/3272422147777817-zJoPjkvV.png
