No flag for Kosovo. #96

There is no flag for Kosovo (XK / https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kosovo).

I propose the Kosovo flag be added to the repository.

This is a great resource for flags, and it would be made even better with the addition of the Kosovo flag.

Describe the solution you'd like

I'd like the ability to pass the XK code and see the Kosovo flag appear in my application.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Alternatives would involve bespoke patterns for this specific instance.

Hi @arriaowlia

Flagpack uses the officially assigned ISO country codes as truth. Because of this some flags might not be included in Flagpack. Please refer to the officially assigned country codes on the ISO website to see which flags should be included in Flagpack.

We would like to note that the flag(s) you're suggesting do not align with the officially assigned ISO country codes and therefore will not be added to Flagpack. We're sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.

Once Kosovo reaches an ISO 3166-1 status we will add the flag to Flagpack.

I second this, Kosovo is a recognized country with a flag and a conventional ISO code of XK in most major services.

It's not likely to be part of the official spec yet, based on the daisychain of Flagpack -> ISO -> UN it's unlikely to reach official status for a considerable amount of time due to political bureaucracy:

According to rules of procedure followed by the ISO 3166 Maintenance Agency, a new ISO 3166-1 code for Kosovo will be issued once it appears in the UN Terminology Bulletin "Country Names" or in the UN Statistics Division's "list of Country and Region Codes for Statistical Use".[15] To appear in the terminology bulletin, Kosovo must either (a) be admitted into the United Nations, (b) join a UN Specialised Agency or (c) become a state party to the Statute of the International Court of Justice.[16] Criterion (b) was met when Kosovo joined the International Monetary Fund[17] and World Bank[18] in June 2009, however a terminology bulletin has yet to be circulated.

But the code is used conventionally by most major services (i.e. CloudFlare), and a number of high-profile organizations, including the EU:

The following organizations have been known to have used the code XK to represent Kosovo:

And they even have a national soccer team 😆 (your library has flags for the other 209 recognized national teams, and it's only missing this one).

Having been flexible with the spec for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland - Kosovo would be a welcome exception.

Agreed, it's an exception included by Mapbox, and Google Maps will display the flag when you search for Kosovo also

@Alexjjsmith or @arriaowlia if you fork flagpack-core to include Kosovo, let us know and we'll move our orgs to your new version of flagpack-core
