Antennas no longer work since version 1.0.5-rc (redis version too low) #9

Describe the bug

Antennas (news-picker) no longer have a function. They are filled with posts for a short time at most, but are completely empty again a short time later.

Context

Steps to reproduce

Posts that have just been published in antennas (news picker) that correspond to the rules of the antenna may be displayed for a short time.

After reloading the aerial or calling it up again, it is completely empty again.

Older posts that were published after the antenna was created will also not appear.

It is not yet known whether other Firefish functions are affected by the low redis version.

Possible (probable) reason

Firefish, from version 1.0.4-beta upwards, requires redis in a version >= 7.

The operator of an instance that does not use YunoHost also experienced the effect. After an update to redis 7.x, the error is fixed.

Possible solution?

An update to redis 7.x should be carried out (via backports package or install script), provided that no other functions of the YunoHost system are affected.

Do you know how to update redis version ?

PericlesSyC commented 7 months ago

Unfortunately, this is not so easy. Debian 11, on which YunoHost is based, only offers Redis up to version 6.x.

It would be possible to integrate the backport repositories and to install/update the backport package for redis 7.x explitzit.

I had asked in various places whether this could have an effect on the core system of YunoHost, but I could not get a concrete answer.

That's why I didn't do it, especially since Firefish is apparently not being developed any further anyway. I've now tried Sharkey (as a Docker container) and I'm happy with it. It replaces Firefish for me very, very well.

Ok thanks for your answer, i have packaging Iceshrimp and it's developed !

I don't take time if firefish isn't developed anyway..

PericlesSyC commented 7 months ago

I recently tried Iceshrimp as a test installation. It also works very well. Would be a good alternative if Sharkey no longer works properly for me. I have deleted my Firefish Instaz in the meantime anyway.

It's a pity that Misskey is so outdated here at YunoHost. I also think the current version is excellent.
