I noticed that the Crowell group has a private wiki provided by the physics department. Perhaps we should set one up.
Things to think about:
What is the future of the physics IT web infrastructure?
I get the impression that the SPA web presence is transitioning to UMN control, so it may not be a good idea to invest to much time and energy in things that aren't future-proof.
Can we really get a private wiki?
I was under the imression that we can't, but the existence of the Crowell group wiki suggests otherwise.
Potential organization:
Public (or pseudo-public) section. Accessible to all (or all SPA).
Is this useful? Is it worth the complexity?
Private section
Lab Documents
Equipment documentation.
Standard Operating Procedures
Stuff that's currently on the group google docs account.
But only if we don't spread the same document out over two services. That would just be harder to maintain.
???
Slides from group talks.
Instructions for group computer systems (backups, website, etc.)
