floor plate & flexural organ #52

[low priority]

the def for floor plate states:

def: "Multi-tissue structure that is the ventral-most aspect of the developing neural tube. The floor plate is a specialized glial structure that spans the rostral-caudal axis from the midbrain to the tail regions." [ZFIN:curator]

This suggests that this is part of the NT ("aspect" is vague). However, there is a separate term "FP NT" which starts after the FP has started:

ZFA:0000022 ! floor plate [part_of: "central nervous system"] [start: "Segmentation:5-9 somites"] ZFA:0001434 ! floor plate neural tube [part_of: "floor plate"] [part_of: "neural tube"] [start: "Segmentation:14-19 somites"]

also, there is an exact syn for FP: synonym: "flexural organ" EXACT []

I thought the flexural organ was the most rostral part of the FP? E.g. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S135727250600313X

and fig7: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0306452298002528

Maybe this deserves its own term? Or maybe at least a demotion from exact syn.

Developing neural tube seems to include neural rod.

PMID: 22768035 (ZDB-PUB-120709-5) F-Spondin/spon1b Expression Patterns in Developing and Adult Zebrafish (Akle et al., 2012)

Authors note that the most anterior end of the notochord is known as the flexural organ and is a source of Reissner's fiber-related proteins, including F-spondin.

this suggests that at the very least flexural organ should not be a synonym for floor plate and probably needs to be a new term.

made flexural organ ZFA:0007071 removed flexural organ as synonym of floor plate

with regard to floorplate being part_of NT, I believe floorplate was broken into floorplate neural tube and floorplate neural rod to accommodate how the structure is developing and take into account the developing brain as well.

I will not change floorplate at this time.
