Update Min-Max_Guide.md #28

  1. There is potential wasted time waiting for Emily to come from her room that can be used by meeting Jas a little later and further west if needed. Thus planning a clockwise trip (if any) around the lake may be better. This doesn't add travel time since we would have had to double north then south at the end anyway to catch Jas and Haley. Coming from the Secret Woods area at the end makes meeting Jas and Haley more natural and puts Emily in her living room at the risk of chasing Penny toward Marnie.

This worked a lot better than counter-clockwise (which just wasn't working for me) when I tested it. In fact, it seems that the optimal route may be to barely catch Haley before she gets too far south. Going out of the way for Marnie is just more weeds that aren't killed in the Forest, and there are plenty to kill near where Haley stops.

  1. Against the event that Spring 1 goes financially poorly (no artifact and scant forage), should the guide recommend as edited?

re: villager route actually, I did some runs where i spent much longer than normal killing weeds in the secret woods. in this route, I just met Penny while she was washing dishes after talking to Abigale on the bridge. you also meet Emily at the same time you meet Gus. i think this might be better than what you describe, but you can experiment with it and let me know

i dont think it really matters, even in the situations where you dont get an artifact you should easily be able to buy an iridium rod before Willy closes for the day. you might not be able to buy >= 50 bait but you should at least get the rod, and it doesn't change the route much either way

Villager route: I like that a lot. I actually had considered meeting Marnie in front of Emily's house and catching Penny later. So to recap: Clockwise around Forest Lake to meet Jas coming to swing, then Haley taking photos or arriving there past Leah's house, then Emily, Marnie (outside Emily's house), Elliot, Clint, Shane, Sam, Abigail, Penny (in trailer), Maru (walking or on bench), etc. This should give a little more time for Forest weeds and doesn't hurt on the tail end even if Alex is already outside and you don't get to the Farm until a bit later. It also works well in case you don't go into the Museum with an artifact.

Forage for Spring 2 money for Fiberglass Rod for poor fishers: a) You may overestimate the fishing skills of the common folks. And it would be nice if the guide worked for poor fishers (those who can barely get to Fishing level 2 in time to buy a Fiberglass Rod). In my tests, I did fail multiple times to get the Fiberglass Rod, usually because of money, I think. I hope to test more to quantify this.

For reference, on Spring 3, level 3, I caught 2 of 8 Catfish. Once I was at level 5, I was catching about 50%, I think.

I hope to keep testing and come up with something like "For poor fishers: If your money for tomorrow looks lower than 1200 gp (???), ship all your forage."

b) It's possible that I misread the guide, and maybe I should focus on editing the part where you can chop weeds before going to meet Demetrius and Sebastian and late in the day after planting. Maybe it's good to optimize the amount of chopping trees against the need for maximum money. How much wood is really needed? Maybe the guide needs some insertions like:

"For poor fishers: Prioritize weeds over wood once you have 50 for a Fish Shop chest tomorrow. Clear all the most concentrated weedy spots on the farm and ship your Spring Onions."

c) It may be good to have a disclaimer that the route is heavy on fishing, and it doesn't bode well for the route if you don't reach Fishing Level 2 in time to buy a Fiberglass Rod on Spring 2.

in the future, lets put discussion in new issues instead of already-merged-pull-requests so that i dont accidently miss it

dont meet emily at her house, meet emily when you meet gus otherwise yes, that seems correct

if you fail to get it, it should still be pretty fine, you just buy it on spring 3 at the same time that you would normally buy bait

ok, those numbers still seem reasonable. its really not a huge deal if you dont catch a ton of catfish, it doesn't really change the route

i think buying pole as soon as possible is more important than getting extra wood for chests, but fiber doesn't really sell for all that much. either way you dont have that much spare enemy to just chop down more wood anyway

i dont think its a huge deal. most challenge runs are 2 years long, if you have a suboptimal first few days it really doesn't matter all that much
