i dont really know anything about this typa stuff so sorry for wasting yalls time, but yeah this is my problem, ive uninstalled and reinstalled like it said around 5 times already and nothing different happened and ive tried looking for error handling mod or whatever and couldnt find anything. Im using a chromebook cuz i saw that using the android installer could work and i couldn't figure out the linux method, so maybe that could be why? I was so excited to play stardew with mods so any help will be appreciated, and if i end up needing to do linux ig ill try harder or sum with it idk, and if you need more info lemme know Screenshot 2023-07-10 10 19 39 AM

I think I might be having a similar issue to yours, also on Chromebook (Android 11) - getting error: SMAPI failed to initialize: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path "/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.zane.stardewvalley/files/smapi-internal/config.json" is denied. I didn't even get a SMAPI error log to generate though. Screenshot 2023-07-17 16 54 24 This is a new error - not sure if due to update to Chrome OS, or new version of SMAPI, but this never happened before and SMAPI always used to run fine.

Did u allow to access folder?

Not sure how you would do this manually. If you go into the permissions settings for SMAPI Stardew Valley app, it's just greyed out. Shouldn't SMAPI app get access to its own folder in Android/data/ automatically?

Well i never use Chrome OS can u check app info and allow every permission for either installer and game hope it's work

OK so I solved my own issue; not sure whether it helps the OP but it might. I don't know exactly how Chrome OS works, but basically the app was being denied access to the com.zane.stardewvalley/files/smapi-internal folder because I'd copied it across from a backup Zip using the Chromebook's own Files app (folder hadn't been created during SMAPI installation).

When I used an Android app – in this case, Cx File Explorer – to copy the smapi-internal folder and contents in, everything stated working fine.

Great to have SMAPI working on my Chromebook tablet again even if mod compatibility is still a bit low. 🙂
