Problems with Gunter, hobin, Marnie, etc

I'm not sure if it's exactly with smapi, however, I've already tried disabling all modes to see if it works. Getting straight to the point: I managed to download and run smapi, but when I need to do something like donating an item to the museum, the game freezes and doesn't allow me to do anything else, leaving me to close the game. Does anyone know how to solve it or is this happening to someone other than me?
