Make decision on this.

Here's the price list for Forage lab (http://www.foragelab.com/Lab-Services/Forage-and-Feed/Price-List). Looks like just for ADF, NDF and lignin it'd be ~$23 USD per sample. And they need a lot of material. They also have various packages.

I guess we're going with the Forage Lab option. I think ADF, NDF and lignin seems good. Do we have enough material @marissalee ?

marissalee commented 6 years ago

We shall see soon. I just sent off some emails inquiring about the minimum amount of sample needed at the UBC lab and the forage lab. I'll keep you posted.

Forage lab details .... -> need 4-6 grams of material per sample, so we'd definitely need to pool our samples by species+size, even then it would be cutting it close -> $23.25-29.25 per sample for ADF, NDF, and lignin

Mansfield (UBC) lab details so far... -> Shawn suggested analyzing cell wall-associated carbohydrates (e.g. arabinose, rhamnose, glucose, xylose, mannose, galactose) instead of ADF and NDF... see paper attached -> waiting on a per sample cost estimate

Following up with Shawn!
