Heya! Stumbled across this when I was searching for a solution to my problem, which was the exact same thing. Added the mod and my Sim straight pulled a Casper, and the UI was kinda wonky. Also couldn't interact with anything. Luckily, I ended up fixing it. Idk if this solution will help you as well but I figure I'd offer what worked for me, just in case. I didn't have branches in my Career though so... I hope you still have some luck.

So... It turns out... the issue for me was Python. More specifically, where Windows 10 likes to put Python by default. I'm pretty sure it placing stuff in the user folder has caused me problems with other programs in the past as well... Anyway! Let's get to that potential solution. So I went into the Python Installer folder inside Mod Constructor and double clicked. When the installer came up, I hit uninstall. Then I exited the Python installer, and opened back up Mod Constructor v5. Mod Constructor then prompted me to install Python again, and I changed the location of the installation path to a folder I created in my separate Hard Drive where I have all my games. If you don't have a separate drive, maybe try creating a folder right in your C:// Drive and installing Python in there? After I reinstalled Python into a new location, I exported the mod again from Mod Constructor, placed the files in the Mods folder, and we were good to go. It actually started working as intended :)

Hope this helps!

I have the same problem ! But , I have better exception installed and this is what the report says:

[manus] account_service failed to handle client connection due to exception (AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'goal_value')

I looked on manny forums and people had somme similar exceptions but never this one so does anyone knows what it means and how to fix it ? is it a problem with our mod or the export ?

@FrenchiSim found the solution

And yes if you choose any type of balloon in the Career Interaction category, your Sim should be able to go to work. Right now if you take a look at your mod file in MC5 you'll see "nothing" under balloon sub-category. Just browse and pick something and you're good to go! 😉
