The tl;dr of the idea was to do something like mechabellum:
It was sort of dropped due to lack of tech at the time though. But now Helwor made a bubble widget: https://zero-k.info/Forum/Thread/37707
So perhaps it can be adapted for regular shield. Even if not, the ticket is there so it doesnt get lost (dense shield clusters do need to gain some visibility into the contents).
