It's clear to me, by now, that pin headers connecting the keypad and the front boards fail a tad too often. As a backup way of connecting the boards, two 0.8mm FPC sockets could be used, with the pin headers then not being required for connectivity and, possibly, even replaceable by some kind of shims/stubs. This would also make keypad replacements much easier.
