Update Isengard Army List #25

Closed Zhaph closed 5 years ago

Zhaph commented 5 years ago

The existing Isengard army list needs to be updated to meet the new points, characteristics and other features for this edition. AoTLotR, pp. 166-180

@Zhaph Just for consistency, do we want wargear selections of be under a wargear tab or just directly off the main unit entry? Personally i think options are limited enough we can do away with a wargear tab

Zhaph commented 5 years ago

@cordwartman Glad you're safe from the hurricane, hope it's not impacting you too much!

Good question - if you take a look at The Fellowship you'll see the route I've been taking, but I fear it might be leading to some duplication in the .gst, but does mean that we get everything listed as per the army lists:

There's "Wargear" options for general weapons, as well as specifics, and when a unit has Armour built in (for example Gimli or Boromir) rather than as an option (for example Aragorn and Legolas) I've also added that in as Wargear instead of Armour so that it is still listed on the profile, but then doesn't trigger the additional "+1 to defence" rules as that bonus is already baked into the profile.

Zhaph commented 5 years ago

@cordwartman Also, you want to be on the "MiddleEarth" branch - not master, which might be causing some extra work otherwise?

cordwartman commented 5 years ago

oops Yeah I may have just done a bunch of extra work :(

cordwartman commented 5 years ago

I didn't even look at the branch. Is there anyway to move my work over to it?

cordwartman commented 5 years ago

I was able to copy my work on Isengard over so that saves me a lot. I can grab some of my other stuff. So I don't have to repeat too much.

cordwartman commented 5 years ago

Yeah Looking at the fellowship list that is the same way I am doing it. Some of the old entries had a Wargear entry that you had to click on for the options to show up on the side panel. I think it is cleaner when you can just click on the name of the unit and the options come up.

I need to do the Uruk Drummer and put Lurtz special ability in. But I think I have a good rough draft done, would love a look over of Isengard when you get a chance!

cordwartman commented 5 years ago

@Zhaph do you use Discord?

Zhaph commented 5 years ago

@cordwartman I do, but don't check in very often - I've set up a Gitter chat space as that seems to be the more approved way around here.

@cordwartman Thoughts on Isengard so far:

  1. Looks like I should move the Warband rules in The Fellowship into the Root Rules section (albeit with their modifiers) that looks neater than putting them in Shared Rules as they apply to all.
  2. Shared Rule Terror - Should probably update the uses of this to link directly to the gamesystem Terror (Passive) rule (might have been because it didn't exist in master?)
  3. "Built in" Armour - as I mentioned above, when armour is included in the models wargear, the profile should already incorporate the appropriate modifier, so I didn't like linking to the Armour rule, which is why I'd created the duplicate wargear items - that way we still get the item listed in the wargear, but it doesn't list "+x to defence" next to it.
  4. I should probably look into the whole Shared Selection Entries ;)
