Smells like a response format bug.

It worked well after the update, started an episode, press "back" button on my
HTC desire. When i'm in the TV-Shows library, it's back to before the update.

Got the same issue with TV episodes. All seasons but the last one of each show
display "Season -1". In cases where there is only one season, it will display a
"Season -1" and a "Season 1".

r688 Fixes this particular issue, but the hardware 'back' button doesn't do
anything.
I can't back out of any menus.

I can confirm that. No way to turn back. I had to kill the app via "Settings ->
Applications" in order to get out of a particular section. I'm on an Evo 4g, in
case it matters.

Not to mean to post excessively, but HTC Evo here as well.
To clarify, the back button can be held to return to the xbmcremote home
screen, but it can't be tapped to go up one level.

Which android version are you using?

It initially happened in HTC's stock 2.2 version.
I flashed to CM6 today and had to revert to r686 and it was still messed up.
So it happens in the HTC and AOSP Froyo builds.
