Google Tone Extension Randomly Adjusts Computer Volume #696

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Google Chrome
2. Install Google Tone Extension
3. Watch some videos
4. Wait.

You'd think that it shouldn't adjust the volume at all - it's just supposed to
listen with the microphone. But it would change Chrome's volume to be half of
the system volume (easily visible in the Volume Mixer in Windows 7).

I'm running Windows 7 x64
Latest Chrome (43.0.2357.81 m)
Google Tone 1.6.3
(https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-tone/nnckehldicaciogcbchegobna
fnjkcne)

I've uninstalled the extension because it was so annoying having my volume go
down and then have it be too loud when I opened a new tab and... it was just a
mess. I would submit an official bug report but I didn't see a page for this
relatively new extension.

My roommate and I both had this same issue and couldn't figure out what it was.
We both are running Windows 8.1
