From my experience there are a lot of people who use some variations, or "house rules" of sorts for trading. Not to purposefully add to the complexity, but perhaps something to consider for future expansion to let a player select a few options.
One that comes to mind that I have played with os, if a player runs out of money during their turn, instead of mortgaging to the bank they can offer to trade to another player.
Trading is possibly one of the toughest parts about Monopoly.
Normally, with the rules I know of, a player may initialize a trade at the beginning of his turn, the other player may then agree or disagree. The game model should support properties and money to be trade-able, nothing else. (No "I will allow you to pass on XYZ if you land there within the coming ABC turns"). Possibly allow Get out of jail free cards to be trade-able as well, but I don't know why anyone would want to buy that shit from another player.
