When one selects an item and then makes it active and Copies it, they may want to go up (e.g. with ESC key) to the parent and Paste a copy of it. Since there's a selection already the new item is pasted over the previous item (as a copy of it).
Then one may want to drag while keeping the new one aligned either horizontally or vertically to the old item.
Could have dragging AreaSelector with SHIFT key pressed to only move on X-Y axes, useful for aligning in other scenaria too, where you'd bring one item over another exactly as one wishes them to align (they show translucent when in edit mode) and then move one of them while keeping it horizontally or vertically aligned with the other
