Must've been out a while. Today I just stumbled over it. I haven't updated my Charge 3 with the new firmware yet. Still on firmware 7.3.0. Let's see what has changed.

Peax commented 4 years ago

AUX input latency is removed or at least siginicant reduced. I tested this on my keyboard and tones were played instantly. But if you use AUX input and have Bluetooth enabled at the same time there still is a small latency.

No changes on the noise gate and audio gets cut off when playing low sounds. Makes it for my keyboard again unuseble :(

This guy @andrew7985 made an app for JBL speakers that allows uploading a DFU file, e. g. for downgrading. Flashing firmware via USB is also possible through CSR BlueSuite. Likewise accessing the memory.

5.4.0 is the lowest public firmware file available and has no Connect+

Hello, sry if this is the wrong place to post this.

I have been searching for a method to downgrade my Charge 3 without using external hardware for flashing and i stumbled upon the mentioned app from @andrew7985. Unfortunately, his github page seems to be down and every other source i found seems to be offline too. Is there any change you could reupload the app somewhere if you still have the APK ? Thanks

@imdbere Here you go 🙂

Dear Peax, it's definitely not a right place to ask but I'm lost any beliefs to find firmware for Pulse3 and it seems it should be somewhere here close to yours one: http://storage.harman.com/JBLConnectPlus/Charge3/Charge3_v7.6.0_20190201.dfu http://storage.harman.com/JBLConnectPlus/Pulse3/Pulse3_#########.dfu

Could you please kindly check if one existing there as access seems to be a previlege of gods?)

Peax commented 4 years ago

Hi @sid-9898 There are two firmware branches for the JBL Pulse 3. Those paths are hard coded in the official JBL Connect Plus app: http://storage.harman.com/JBLConnectPlus/Pulse3/Pulse3_upgrade_index.xml http://storage.harman.com/Testing/JBLConnectPlus/Pulse3/Pulse3_upgrade_Test_index.xml http://storage.harman.com/JBLConnectPlus/Pulse3/news_Pulse3.xml

Hi @Peax ,

I recently got a JBL Charge 3 that comes with the stock 3.9 firmware. I've heard that the 7.3.0 version had slightly better sound quality than the current 7.6.0 . Would you happen to have the 7.3.0 FW available and a way to do this upgrade?

AleeksMendeLi commented 4 years ago

Somebody have the firmware for extreme 2?

proxesijs commented 4 years ago

Can someone please upload a 7.3 firmware for JBL Charge 3? It'll be appreciated so much, Thank you in advance!

Just want to know about firmware versions of Charge 3

First Question What are the differences in sound between firmware 3.9 and 5.4? (Bass, Mid High)

2nd Question Am I able to upgrade my charge 3's firmware from 3.9 to 5.4 using connectplus from andrew7895?

3rd Question Does it really work??

Thanks!

Peax commented 4 years ago

@hirui

JBLConnector commented 4 years ago

Hi all.

First of all i have to thank Peax for his support here! Thx bro! Good work!

I was sniffing the net for infos about sound an stuff for my new purchased jbl charge 3 and found some very interesting youtube videos for jbl noobs.

So also do this first, befor making any updating of your "new" jbl product. Its very important to know what kind of use u prefer befor doin any update!

The official JBL Connect App updates automatically to the latest verson. So think this for now 7.6.0 This is only usefull if you want to connect your older jbl products to more than 1 other jbl product as you can see in this youtube vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCtrZPrjSEo

Otherwise i prefer not to update to version 7.6.0 or connect+ because i don't need it to use more than 2 jbl in stereo mode. For me Sound is the preference so again Peax thx for the links above, so that i can Update only to 7.3.0 and don't loosing sound quality and becoming some shit i don't need.

Im quite surprised that jbl doesn't offer Apps where you can choose your prefered Updateversion...? Thats some kind of stupid...

Anyway. The tool from @andrew7985 works well on my samsung smartphone and does the job which no official jbl app can handle for now.

  1. Download @andrew7985 and install the app
  2. choose your prefered firmware update and download (inform yourself well before doing so. You can safe your nerves and time to reconfiger your jbl)
  3. in andrews7985 app choose your prefered frimeware and install. its as easy as use official jbl connect app.
  4. Have fun with your jbl product.

Cheers!

SevenOFF commented 3 years ago

Heyy do someone have old firmware of boombox because they deactivated the low frequency mode in the new update

Thanks

ZuwaiiVR commented 3 years ago

Thanks

What you do is disabling DSP and EQ corrections for the drivers, which makes your unit sound even worse and damage can occur.

SevenOFF commented 3 years ago

Oh yeah i know that, and one question, i've got 2 jbl xtreme 1 can i make them connect plus to connect to my boombox if i change the software ?

Zenrap518 commented 3 years ago

Does anyone know what the newest firmware version for the Charge 3 is without Connect+? And does anyone have a link to it? Thanks.

Dear @Peax

Very thanks for your support! but could you please check if there are any other firmwares versions available for Pulse3 which can be utilized after main board repairs? Ones you've sent somehow cannot be installed...(seems due to different version of the Pulse3 speaker, mine is V7.0, as on the picturesbelow)

Very appropriate your support!

UPD I've recognized there was an update of your post from 04 September where new link was added but unfortunately no corresponding file.. http://storage.harman.com/JBLConnectPlus/Pulse3/news_Pulse3.xml It seems it's ver.2.3 acc. to quick check.

This guy @andrew7985 made an app for JBL speakers that allows uploading a DFU file, e. g. for downgrading. Flashing firmware via USB is also possible through CSR BlueSuite.

@Peax Question for you if you wouldn't mind. I downloaded the firmware file (7.30) and connected the speaker to my PC. But I'm struggling to understand how to downgrade it using CSR Bluesuite.

Is it just the DFU Wizard program that's part of the suite? Sorry, just really don't want to break my charge 3!

Peax commented 3 years ago

@Hunter926 I suggest using andrew7985's Android app because the here provided OTA DFU files are not compatible with CSR BlueSuite (requires .xdv/.xpv file format). If you don't have an Android 5+ device you can host a VM or boot Android x86 (https://www.android-x86.org) directly from USB.

Hello every body, is it any available latest firmware for JBL Xtreme (first one) at moment it contains 5.0

His app doesn't work for the xtreme 2. It just keeps giving me an error on both versions

@Hunter926

You can use csr or any android phone as long as you can download the old version of jbl connect app that lets you choose which the firmware you want your jbl to be updated to as it has the option for you to select file when updating.

The app in this thread ConnectPlus doesn't support the xtreme 2 along with newer JBL's so it doesn't have much use unless you have a charge 3

@M4lw4reT3sts There exist two different versions of the JBL Xtreme 2.

The Q-version is not compatible with andrew7985's ConnectPlus app!

It is a longshot, but.... i would like to try. Sorry if i posted in wrong place, but this seems to be the most suitable place.

I have a JBL Pulse 3 v2 (Main PCB V7.0 as motherboard) that just died one day. It does not blink, does not charge. It's a brick, basically. When plugged in any charger ~ it would draw but 16~18 mAmps. It does not react to anything.

Is there any ways to flash the firmware without using any hardware programmers? (no known and unknown button combinations work, battery is new (both old and new bats are working fine), no burns or damage on main pcb or any other component)

Same or similar behavior with my JBL Link 20. It is not doing anything neither with a charged battery. CPUs are getting warm, so they are running (assume) but but no light, or any reaction to the buttons.

Rafalwawa commented 2 years ago

I installed the application from andrew7985, but after launching it, the application does not detect the JBL Charge 3 speaker. It searches for the device all the time. I am asking for help in solving my problem. I installed the application on the Samsung Galaxy M51

Peax commented 2 years ago

@Rafalwawa Probably something with location services. Verify that you granted permission for precise location.
