i've had this vision in my head for a "cracktro" sequence that plays when the game first loads - a splash screen before the title screen - and it says something like "THE LITTLE MARIO COLLECTIVE PRESENTS" with contributor names sort of bouncing/flying around. pressing any key/clicking will skip to the title screen
i really like this as a potential addition to a project that i believe has anti-capitalist values, considering that sequences like this are so tightly related to piracy teams who would "crack" expensive software and release it for free to the public.
as a little bonus - i was thinking the scene containing this splash screen could have some exposed variables that could be used to tweak various visual effects (tween easings/speeds, colors, etc). we'd encourage contributors working in the code to play with the sliders a little bit before submitting their changes, so each time the game is updated, there is an IMMEDIATE difference to the first screen you see.
i see this as very much an artist/musician collaboration, but i would be happy to provide support to anyone who is interested in doing this (helping them learn the basics of godot to build out this splash screen and also wiring up the variables and such)
