Space-letter searching does not work in tags mode or bufs mode

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open tags mode
2. Press space, then the first letter of some tag

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It should jump the cursor to the first tag starting with that letter, but 
instead 
if prints an error about a read only buffer.

There should probably be a function that defines a set of keybindings such as 
this one, shared by all three nav modes.
