Virtual machines hosts created, don't pull any data #26

Hi André thanks for the updates. It worked at first install. Now I'm facing two issues:

1.- Items created for every virtualmachine, doesn't get any data. I believe that this could be caused by the fact that I'm using Active checks instead of Passive ones, since all these items are created as active. (I changed the template to create this as passive ones, and it seems to work)

2.- There is an error that appears in the Virtual NIC Discovery creating graphs: "Cannot create graph: value "Hyper-V VM baruwa node 2_network adapter_dc47c238-8fde-4684-a664-1e63302cb2c4--8343b7df-283b-4b04-931c-94fc26fdf77b Network usage" is too long."

Thanks!

Hello @jaferrer71 ,

do you see a reason why this should not work in active mode?

About 2. The resulting name is 129 characters long, apparently Zabbix only allows names up to 127 characters

https://www.zabbix.com/forum/zabbix-help/41023-graph-name-from-discovery-lenght-too-long https://support.zabbix.com/si/jira.issueviews:issue-html/ZBXNEXT-2070/ZBXNEXT-2070.html

Not sure how could could shorten this name on zabbix side. Are all your interfaces in the vm named with these long uuid's?

Sorry, yes,

active mode won't work, as the host name is taken from the zabbix-agent.conf on the Hyper-V side, but the new generated hosts have other names.

So yes, switching to passive seems the only viable option

Thanks André,

I can confirm that changing the virtual machines items to passive works! I made the change on the Virtual Machines Template and they work great!

Now the only thing that remains is the long interface name given by Hyper-V to NICs, which is a Hyper-V issue.

Kindest Regards.
