AWS App Runner was quick to get a deployment going on, but is not very reliable for our purposes. There are undocumented outages in DNS resolution, Load Balancer configuration, and scaling that leave the service inoperable.

This is on hold as the App Runner team has put in place several measures to correct these problems. Will revisit this in 30 days.

Reopened as App Runner continues to be unreliable. Api app has been migrated to self-hosted VM at TACC resolving to https://vbr-api.a2cps.cloud/

Hosting architecture is as follows:

Centos 7.x VM on TACC Jetstream
A2CPS-specific keypair
Docker 17 LTS configured as container runtime
DNS configured using AWS Route53 and a2cps.cloud TLD
VBR app deployed behind an instance of Caddy proxy
HTTPS certs managed by Caddy using Letsencrypt
Monitoring via Pingdom
