"Load saved state.." does not finish.

When I open Bookmark search plus 2, I get the message "Load saved state.." without getting to the point to get any bookmarks.

After looking at https://github.com/aaFn/Bookmark-search-plus-2/issues/50 I did the steps

1. Open the browser console = Ctrl + Shit + J
2. Clear its contents by clicking on the trash icon on top left
3. Go to the add-ons page = Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions
4. Disable BSP2 (click on the Disable button ..)
5. Wait 5 seconds to make sure
6. Enable BSP2
7. Wait 5 seconds and take the contents of the Browser console and paste it here ...

and get this to paste:

Recently I deinstalled uMatrix and installed NoScript and uBlock origin. Maybe it has something to do with that, but I am not sure. I also deleted all links related to zentrum-digitalisierung.bayern, but that did not help.

Hello @Make42 , given what I see, I am afraid that your local storage for BSP2 got corrupted in some external way. Best way to clean things up should be to:

• uninstall BSP2
• exit Firefox
• restart Firefox
• reinstall BSP2

This will clear local storage. Drawnback is that the process of fetching favicons will start again .. so you will lack a number of favicon images for until they are all fetched (happening in the background, in a non performance impacting way).

Well, then something else is going on obviously, and we need more details on that. Your trace above does not seem complete, probably you do not have content messages enabled.

For a start, can you try that modified sequence ?

1. Open the browser console = Ctrl + Shit + J

Hello @Make42 , bad news, it looks like the corruption in local storage / IndexedDB is much wider 😞

Before doing drastic things on your FF install, would you be able to start your firefox with a new virgin profile and try BSP2 in it ?

• save bookmarks (in the Bookmarks Library menu bar -> import and save -> save as a json file)
• open a new tab with URL about:profiles
• create a new blank test profile
• launch it in a new navigator
• install BSP2, verify it starts ok
• then import the saved bookmarks json file using again the Bookmarks Library
• verify BSP2 is ok (or not ..)
• then you can come back to start FF with your main profile, remove the test profile

and let me know how this is going.

@aaFn I did the steps you asked for and yes, in the new profile, BSP2 is working just fine.

Ok, thank you, then the problem really lies in your current profile, and is corrupting or blocking access to local storage 😢

Looking at https://www.reddit.com/r/Enhancement/comments/59uxcf/indexeddb_corruption_in_the_firefox_change_the/ maybe a suggestion is to:

• stop FF,
• look at your FF profile direcoty, and search for a directory or file having https+++zentrum in its name, (should normally be in the storage sub-directory)
• rename it to xxxxx.backup if there is one or more)
• restart FF and see if the problem persists ?

Hoping that can be as simple as that ... (we never know)

I did not have to time to takle the issue for a while, but now I did. Turns out, renaming the directory did not help, but deleting the bad boy did. Thanks @aaFn !
