I cannot reproduce the error. I have tried up to four Gmail Icon gadgets with
different accounts and since the gadgets all operate separately they cannot
check
accounts defined by other instances. You should check, however, that you have
correctly entered your usernames in both gadgets. When you add a second
instance of a
gadget Google Desktop will copy the settings from the first version. So just
changing
the account title isn't enough, you will also have to change the username and
password. Is it possible that this is the source for your problem ?

thank you for your reply, can you tell me where do you save the settings? a
file?
the registry?
i will debug it some more.

The settings are stored using the options object provided by Google Desktop.
If you want to do some testing yourself you could download the source code for
the
gadget from the subversion repository here or open the gg-file using the Google
Desktop Gadget Designer which is available in the Google Desktop SDK.

As I said the only thing I could imagine is that this comes from the fact, that
Google copies the settings to a new gadget and didn't store the new settings
correctly.

the settings must not get set or you use the incorrect settings. i have 2 of
those
icons, one is for my personal gmail and one is for my google apps email. both
icons
notify me of my gmail account. even when i set an incorrect userid/password in
both, they both still report the email from my gmail account. if i set
incorrect
credentials, should i get an error?

Yes, it should display "no connection" and an exclamation mark. I did several
tests
and it worked as expected. Which operating system and Google Desktop version
are you
running? I'm trying to reproduce the error bug cannot. Can you give me a step
by step
guide from installing the gadget to the error which always reproduces the error?
Maybe with screenshots? I would really love to fix this but can't since I do
not know
the source of the error.
