GD 5.8 prompts user to remove gadget that uses JavaScript Alert Windows

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. In GD 5.8, cause a gadget that uses JavaScript Alert Windows to popup 
an alert. 
2. Wait 10 seconds or so.
3. There is no step 3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect:
GD 5.8 to do nothing and let the user respond to the gadget's alert by 
clicking [OK] button.

Instead: 
The new GD 5.8 detection of a non-responding (dead) gadget triggers if I 
take too long for the user to click [OK] on the gadget's alert.

Google Desktop pops up its own alert window with the message: "[Gadget] 
may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. Do you want to abort and 
remove the gadget now, or continue to see if it will respond?" 

The gadget is not busy and is responding to me, it's just waiting for me 
to click [OK] to its JavaScript alert.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
GD 5.8 on Windows XP

I am having the same problem with my gadget.  Is this an oversight in the 
design of 
the mechanism used to detect unresponsive gadgets?

Is there a work-around?

I'm having this problem too with the gadget "System stats" - a gadget I really 
like
(the others out there don't show the information I need, resize improperly with 
every
computer restart, or have some other deal-breaking issue, including the Google 
made
version). I hope they fix this!
