I have seen the "Could not find codec parameters" error in cases when ffmpeg was either too old or didn't include support for the h264 codec. Some distros don't include non-free codecs by default. Instead, the codecs need to be installed separately.

Can you check the output of ffmpeg -codecs | grep h264?

The output contains two bits of interesting information. First, it shows the ffmpeg version. If your ffmpeg is older than 4.1, try updating it.

Secondly, the output should include a line like the next one if your ffmpeg has the h264 support:

 DEV.LS h264                 H.264 / AVC / MPEG-4 AVC / MPEG-4 part 10 (decoders: h264 h264_v4l2m2m h264_qsv ) (encoders: libx264 libx264rgb h264_omx h264_qsv h264_v4l2m2m h264_vaapi )

The "DEV" at the start of the line means that ffmpeg has support for decoding (D) and encoding (E) h264 video (V) streams.

I'm using Windows x64 builds by BtbN.

When I tested just now, it seems to work fine. Maybe temporary problem then...

Based on the ffmpeg output, your ffmpeg does have the required codec support, so my guess was wrong.

If it's working now, it was most likely some kind of temporary issue at Areena. I'm closing this issue. Please reopen, if you encounter similar errors again.

Still no idea what might be causing this. Was it again a temporary problem or are you still getting a similar error?
