I see that you closed this; anything that could be wrapped up into a PR that I could merge in?

Sorry, I didn't see your comment until now. The testing suite is not that good yet. And there will be some work to involve to structure the code so that we could keep the turkee gem's original functionality - creating a record and meet our need - updating fields of records. Gonna work on this and send another pull request when it's ready.
