playback issue for some wav files (2.0.19.Alpha regression) #314

I found some wav files that can't be played in BZR2 (v2.0.37 Alpha). It makes the BZR2 to crash.

Its the same for 2.0.36 & 2.0.35 too.

But these wav files can be played in BZR1 without problem (Only the seeking bar doesn't work in BZR1)

It's played by VGMStream in BZR1. It plays fine in VLC but not in some other players. It might be a corrupt .wav. I'll look into it some more.

It might be a corrupt .wav.

No no. It's not corrupted. It's a wav file in an album. Also I have some other wav files in different albums that behave the same.

Here are two more wave samples from other albums:

None of them are corrupted!

i've tried playing 00000043.wav on various bzr2 releases: it plays until 2.0.18.Alpha: starting from 2.0.19.Alpha the crash happens. from 2.0.19.Alpha changelog: "Upgraded to newest VGMPlay (0.40.9)". @aargirakis maybe you could try to update vgm to current last version and try if now it works

aargirakis commented 1 year ago

VGMStream, not VGMPlay. The crash comes from another plugin (haven't checked which one) but even after upgrading to latest VGMStream r1810 the wav can't be played. It played in an older version as you wrote, so maybe they dropped support or introduced a bug, I have no idea.

2.0.38.Alpha: it doesn't crash anymore, but these wav files are still unplayable
