LysRS-I discussion. Please use this tag #31

Edits:

  1. Change "by catalyzing the attachment of the amino acid arginine to its cognate tRNA" to "by catalyzing the attachment of the amino acid lysine to its cognate tRNA".
  2. It is worth adding text to state that LysRS-I is in a subclass of class I aaRSs that require the presence of tRNA for aa-AMP synthesis.

Also, a few organisms encode both LysRS-I and LysRS-2

Very important to get the name of the substrate right!

Mike, do you know much about that beta rich loop on the surface of the catalytic domain called "LysRS IM"? It is unique to this enzyme but I don't know if it has been functionally characterised. I would speculate it is involved in tRNA recognition
