Multiple instances support #132

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
It would be great if you could integrate multiple instance support on MPlayerX
so you could view or play multiple videos simultaneously.

It is the feature I missed at the very beginning.

Changing current infrastructure is a huge job, but not giant.

My top prio issue too. For some strange reason, there is hardly any video
player on osx that can have multiple instances.

Original comment by bwak...@gmail.com on 23 Apr 2011 at 1:41

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
it is not strange,

you may find that the multi-instance player may have no playlist, e.g QuickTime
X.

playlist + multi-instance will bring panic to designers.

If I could solve it, MPlayerX may prevail further. ... :D

I would definately vote for multi-instance over playlists :). Is this an OSX
related difficulty? On windows almost every media player supports both
playlists and multi-instance.

no, not OSX related, I would say, coz Quicktime is Multi-instance.

What do you mean?

Original comment by zongyao.qu on 16 Jul 2011 at 9:52

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
He means that you should implement a file association manager inside MplayerX
(for .mkv etc), and that Enter/Return should toggle full-screen on video (like
CMD+F and Double-LeftClick already does).

Completely unnecessary in my opinion, and he could have made a new issue for
the request.

Why don't you try open -n /Applications/MPlayerX.app command from the terminal,
it should start a new instance of the application.

I have a created a small app for MPlayerX that can actutally support multiple
instances.

If you start that via finder on a video file it will open a fresh new instance
of mplayer any time. If someone is interested, I'm happy to give you that. Just
mail me on oliver@source-knights.com

• Include this (as multiple windows) and also:
• Video Trimming+Save,
and then Apples Quicktime X player is no more useful for me.

And:
If you include an option to (automatically?) save the complete layout, i.e. all
window sizes/positions, time positions, speeds, volumes, etc., just simply
everything —
then there is no other media player in the known universe … Nope, really
isn't, man. ;-)

I found this page, because I wanted the multiple instance feature as well...
but then I realised that it's handy as it forces you to focus on one video. I
understand for some people for certain purposes it might be handy. So it be
great if the feature can be toggled on and off...

Thank you for a great app... I discovered it just now and a whole world opened
up... love it :D Amazing work

I NEED THIS❕

this is all i need and this will be the best video player ever!

1- multi-windows support (( the most important thing for me ))
i want to open 2 videos at once!

2- save screen option size "half the size"
i don't want to open any video and take all the screen size because its 1080p!
i want it ti save the "half the screen size" option so when i open it it will
be small in my screen (( please do this! ))

3- playlist
we NEED THIS! i want to be able to choose my playlist!

thats it .. thank you !

Just do this:

Right-click on your MPlayerX application, and click "Duplicate". Now you'll
have another copy of MPlayerX, one that can be open simultaneously with the
original. Make a bunch of duplicates and you can open lots of movies at the
same time.

It's not pretty, but it works for me.
